ISLAMABAD, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Security officials in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province said on Wednesday that personnel of counterterrorism department killed six terrorists in an operation in Quetta, the provincial capital.

At least four policemen were injured in the operation, a spokesman for the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said in a statement.

The spokesman said a woman was among the terrorists, who wore suicide vests and were hiding in a compound at the eastern by-pass road locality on the outskirts of the city.

The CTD spokesman said one terrorist blew himself up when the operation was launched on receiving intelligence that a group of terrorists were hiding in the compound.

Security forces recovered arms and explosives from the compound, according to the statement.

The CTD spokesman did not offer more details as to which group was targeted in the early morning operation. No group issued any statement to claim the attempt.

In the past, security forces conducted operations against the Islamic State, Pakistani Taliban, sectarian and Baloch insurgent groups in Balochistan, who are blamed for attacks against security forces.
