NAIROBI, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Kenya face a tough test against Ghana in the third round of the Africa women's football qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

This follows Ghana's near-perfect performance that saw them cruise past Gabon with a 2-0 win on Tuesday in Accra.

Ghana eased into the next stage 5-0 on aggregate, and now face Kenya, who saw off Malawi 5-3 on aggregate.

"It never gets easier from this stage," said Kenya coach David Ouma. "We have played Ghana before and we will be ready for the challenge. Kenya has a mix of young and experienced players and each is hungry for success."

Elsewhere, Asisat Oshoala scored the only goal as Nigeria beat Algeria in Lagos to also progress to the third round of the Olympic qualifiers.

The West Africans are seeking their fourth Olympic qualification after debuting at Sydney 2000 and making further appearances at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

With their victory, the nine-time African champions now have a tie with Cote d'Ivoire in the next round, after the Ivorians knocked out Mali.

South Africa's road to Tokyo 2020 was brought to an abrupt end when they went down 3-2 on penalties to Botswana in Johannesburg on Tuesday evening.

Botswana will now take on Zambia in the third round, who qualified after Zimbabwe failed to appear for the second leg of their tie.

The winner of the Botswana versus Zambia match will face either Ghana or Kenya in the fourth round.

Africa has one automatic spot for women's football at the Tokyo Olympics, and that will be decided by the winner of the two-legged fifth round qualifying tie that will be played in January next year.

The runners-up will enter a play-off tie against Chile, who finished second in the South American qualifiers.
