GABORONE, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The University of Botswana will host the 12th Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD) Annual Scientific Conference on Sept. 11-13, 2019.
Hosted under the theme "Role of Higher Education and Research institutions in forging sustainable livelihoods", the conference is expected to attract highly reputable scholars from member institutions in Southern Africa and the Nordic Countries.
SANORD is a non-profit membership driven organization formed in 2007 with 8 founding members. It has since grown to 48 members comprising 27 Southern African institutions which are based in Botswana, Namibia, Malawi, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe as well as 21 Nordic institutions in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
It is a well-established and relevant network of higher education institutions with accountable impact on global sustainable development through mutual partnership and academic exchange between higher education institutions in the Southern African and Nordic countries.
Its network seeks to address sustainable development and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals through joint activities of research, education and other activities relevant for the member institutions.
SANORD activities are based on academic quality, academic freedom and fundamental values of democracy, human rights, equity and diversity.
