BANGKOK, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Songkhla Province in Southern Thailand on Wednesday flaunted its humongous lamps ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival slated for Sept. 12 to Sept. 14.

The Songkhla Provincial Public Relations Office said its main southern business district of Hatyai will feature giant lamps, illuminations and street arts and food, among others.

Songkhla Deputy Governor Sakara Kapilkan said the Hatyai Mid-Autumn Festival 2019 aims at luring Chinese tourists from Thailand and Malaysia, as well as to promote tourism in Hatyai district.

Giant red lamps will be placed on various spots with light and sounds.

Ancient buildings depicting Chinese culture will be lit up for tourists to visit.

The province will also launch a beauty pageant contest of Moon Goddess Chang'e.

There will be Moon Festival altars, free concerts, illuminations on Sino-Portuguese buildings, savoury mooncakes, dragon and lion dances and more than 100 food stalls, Sakara said.

The Hatyai Mid-Autumn Festival 2019 will be co-hosted by the Songkhla Province, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Tourists Business Federation of Songkhla and the Thai-Chinese Association of Songkhla.
