COPENHAGEN, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- A project of new senior housing community got the green light to start in the city of Christiansfeld, Southern Jutland of Denmark, said a statement of Housing and Environment Committee of Kolding Municipality, released here on Wednesday.

Christiansfeld is a town named after the Danish King Christian VII and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since July 2015.

The project started with 17 senior houses in the eastern part of Kolding Municipality, the statement added.

The next step in the process will be to set up working groups where seniors can help shape the new housing and the social community framework.

If the new housing project develops as expected, the new senior housing will be ready for habitation by 2022.

Interest in self-contained senior housing communities is growing incrementally in Denmark as its population ages.
