KIEV, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- A gala concert marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China was held on Friday in Kiev National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet.
"Today is the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival celebrated by Chinese people, and is a day of reunion," Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Du Wei said when welcoming the attendees to the concert, noting that the gala concert "aims to express our friendship towards the people in Kiev."
"I want to express the hope, which is based on the actual steps of Ukraine and China, that our relations will continue to develop dynamically, effectively, in the interests of peace, harmony and development of Ukraine and China," said former Ukrainian President Leonid Kravchuk in his speech before the concert.
During the gala concert, a number of Ukrainian and Chinese singers and musicians performed Peking Opera and Western operas, as well as traditional Ukrainian and Chinese songs.
