CAIRO, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang discussed with Egyptian Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel-Aal means of enhancing mutual cooperation, the parliament said on its website on Tuesday.

"The successful visit of Egypt's parliament speaker to China in June this year has played an important role in promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two countries," said Liao.

"The China-Egypt bilateral relations in politics, economy, science and technology, education, culture, military and other fields have developed rapidly and achieved fruitful results, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples," the ambassador added.

Liao, the 17th Chinese ambassador to Egypt, has presented his credentials to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sept. 16.

Abdel-Aal greeted the Chinese ambassador on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China, noting that the parliamentary relations between both countries are "the cornerstone of pushing forward bilateral ties in a way that matches the importance of the two countries."

He confirmed the mutual ties are "historical and strong."

There is an agreement between the leaders of the two countries on the importance of enhancing the social, cultural, economic and political ties, the parliament's speaker added.
