LONDON, Sept.30 (Xinhua) -- Thomas Cook bookings made by direct debit were expected to refund within the next 14 days, but others will have to wait up to two months, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Britain said Monday

Around 360,000 customers will receive a refund for their bookings due to Thomas Cook's collapse, three times larger than previous refund programme, according to the CAA.

The regulator said they are implementing new systems to "enable us to process these refunds as quickly as possible."

According to the watchdog, around 100,000 bookings made by direct debit were expected to be refunded within the next 14 days.

However, refunds of bookings made by other payment methods will take longer, because the CAA does not currently possess all necessary information from Thomas Cook.

The CAA said it hopes to "pay refunds within 60 days of receiving a valid refund form."

Meanwhile, more information will be available on its website from Oct. 7, said it.

In addition, the CAA continued to bring passengers back to Britain in the largest peacetime repatriation called "Operation Matterhorn" since Sept. 23, estimated at a total of 150,000 travelers.

"More than 100 aircraft have been used as part of the Matterhorn fleet," said the regulator, adding that "106,000 (travelers have) flown back to UK in the first seven days of the operation, over two-thirds of the total number to be repatriated."
