PHNOM PENH, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- China's rapid growth and development have benefited not only China itself, but also other countries in the world, said a leading online media owner in Cambodia on Tuesday.

Speaking during an interview with Xinhua about the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Lim Cheavutha, founder and chief executive officer of Fresh News, highly commended China's positive and peaceful development over the last seven decades.

"In only 70 years, the People's Republic of China has enjoyed the rapid pace of development, that some countries in the world, even though they have spent more than 100 years, cannot achieve such a tremendous success," he said.

Vutha said he was impressed with China's development in all fields, particularly in economy, science and technology, high-rise buildings, infrastructure, tourism, culture, and poverty reduction.

"In technology, I think China is pioneering in the development of A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) and the 5G (fifth generation) wireless network, which are of great benefit for humans across the world," he said. "For poverty reduction, it's a miracle, China has lifted hundreds of millions of Chinese people out of poverty over the past decades."

The CEO said China's enormous development has resulted from the unity, solidarity, and joint efforts of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese government and the people of China.

With its progress, China has actively supported socio-economic development in other countries through various initiatives, for instance, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

"These initiatives are benefiting countries around the globe, including Cambodia," Vutha said, adding that under the BRI, Cambodia has seen remarkable development in infrastructure such as roads, rails, ports, airports and special economic zones.

Moreover, China has played a crucial role in maintaining peace, stability, security and development in the region and in the world, he said.

"I see that China has actively contributed to the United Nations peacekeeping operations and has always sent its peacekeepers to join the operations," he said, noting that for Cambodia, China has helped a lot in the kingdom's mine clearance operations.

Vutha also observed that with the rise of China's middle class, more and more Chinese have spent their holidays abroad, and Cambodia is one of their favorite tourism destinations.
