Bangladesh's 1st satellite Bangabandhu-I goes on commercial transmission

DHAKA, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's first communication satellite Bangabandhu-I went into commercial transmission Wednesday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the service ceremony here on Wednesday. A presentation on the multifaceted use of the satellite for development in various sectors of the country was made during the ceremony.

In November last year, Thales Alenia Space handed over the controlling authority of the satellite to Bangladesh.

The satellite was launched by the SpaceX in May 2018 to the orbit.
