Tokyo stocks close slightly lower on concerns over global economic outlook

TOKYO, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed slightly lower Monday, giving up earlier gains on the back of solid U.S. jobs data, as trade concerns clouded the outlook for the global economy and sent the yen higher versus the U.S. dollar, which hurt exporters.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 34.95 points, or 0.16 percent, from Friday to close the day at 21,375.25.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 0.15 point, or 0.01 percent, to finish at 1,572.75.

Rubber product, farm and fishery, and mining-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
