WINDHOEK, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Namibian long-distance runner Helalia Johannes, who specializes in the marathon, has been hailed for her outstanding performances in the recent races she has undertaken.
Namibia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in a statement issued Tuesday, extended her warmest congratulation for her recent magnificent victory on Sunday.
Johannes registered her sixth victory out of six Grand Prix series in the final SPAR Women's 10km Challenge in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She won the race with a record time of 33 minutes 16 seconds and set a new Namibia record and now holds the Namibian records in the 10km, 20km, half marathon and marathon events.
"You know the hard work and dedication has a destination which is success. Your dedication, enthusiasm and insight are really inspiring. Best of luck with your future and congratulation on your achievements. Keep going," Nandi-Ndaitwah said.
On Sept. 28, Namibia's track queen at the women's marathon race of the IAAF World Athletics Championships 2019 in Doha, Qatar managed to collect bronze behind Kenya's Ruth Chepngetich (gold) and Rose Chelimo of Bahrain (silver).
Nandi-Ndaitwah concluded and stated that Johannes's achievements have contributed to both the country's sport and public diplomacy.
