LUSAKA, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Zambian President Edgar Lungu on Tuesday mourned the tragic death of six people and the injuring of 26 others in a road traffic accident in Chingola district on the Copperbelt Province.
The accident occurred on Sunday when a minibus the victims were traveling in hit into a stationary truck and was later hit by another vehicle that was following behind.
In a statement released by his office, Lungu expressed sadness by the tragic accident and urged the country's Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) to frequently check on the roads to clear broken down vehicles that pose a danger to motorists.
"It is sad that people perished because a truck was left on the road for a long time. RTSA and police must develop a culture of clearing roads of vehicles that have broken down," he said.
