SARAJEVO, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- An agricultural fair marking International Rural Women's Day was held here on Tuesday to help the country's rural women sell their products and promote agricultural exchanges and development.
At the fair at a supermarket in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), rural women from all over the Balkan country displayed agricultural products including tea, propolis, cheese, olive oil and cosmetics.
They showed great interest in getting into the Chinese market and hoped that they could find opportunities to do business with China.
Bozo Ilic, a tea producer from Ljubinje, a small town in southern BiH, said she has plans to seek partners in the Asian country.
Boosted by China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, bilateral trade between China and BiH has been growing in recent years. In 2018, the two countries' trade reached 187 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 37 percent over the previous year.
The International Rural Women's Day was established by the United Nations in late 2007 to recognize the key role and contribution of rural women to agricultural development, improving food security and eradicating rural poverty.
