BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah will attend Indonesian president's inauguration ceremony on Sunday for his second and final term, a local daily reported on Saturday.

According to the Borneo Bulletin, the inauguration ceremony is organized by the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Indonesia's legislative branch.

MPR Speaker Bambang Soesatyo confirmed that the inauguration of President Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, for term 2019-2024 will be attended by almost all leaders from the ASEAN region, as well as Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr. Sujatmiko said the Sultan's presence "will show a sincere commitment of friendship to further strengthen our unity as fellow ASEAN member countries."

"We also perceive the presence of His Majesty for the inauguration of President Joko Widodo as a testament to the personal closeness and warmth of cooperation between the two leaders, to inspire increased friendship and closeness between components of society between the two countries, including the business world and academia," Sujatmiko told the daily.

Sujatmiko also said Widodo's second tenure will be committed to enhancing the cooperation between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam for the welfare of their people, including the close cooperation for global peace, security and prosperity.

"This includes the settling of pending matters, such as agreements in the labor sector; the development of new collaborations, such as in the Brunei Darussalam investment sector in Indonesia; and increased trade volume between the two countries," he added.
