KUITO, Angola, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese-built water supply project is expected to benefit more than 160,000 people in central Angola.

Angolan President Joao Lourenco inaugurated the Kuito water supply project on Saturday in Kuito, Bie province in central Angola.

Designed in Chinese standards, the Kuito water supply project is the largest water supply system in central Angola, said Si Qin, public relations officer of the project, at the inauguration ceremony.

The project's water treatment plant has a daily water supply capacity of 15,000 tons, which is four times larger than the original water plant, said Si.

"It will greatly improve the city's water supply capacity in Kuito, and it is expected to benefit more than 160,000 people," she added.

While the project was constructed by China Railway starting from July 2017, thousands of local laborers were hired and more than 400 technicians were trained in machinery, measurement and maintenance, said Si.
