DUBLIN, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- The 11th Europe Forum organized by the Federation of Chinese Professional Association in Europe (FCPAE) concluded in Dun Laoghaire, a seaside town south of Dublin, on Saturday.
At the closing ceremony of the forum held at Royal Marine Hotel, the organizer announced winners for the titles of 2019 Top 10 Leading Chinese Talents for Science and Technology in Europe, an award given out by FCPAE since 2012.
Dr. Li Hao, director researcher of the French National Center for Scientific Research or CNRS in abbreviated French, and nine other Chinese professionals from other parts of Europe won the titles for this year due to their outstanding achievements in various fields.
Most of the winners are from the universities, research institutes and big companies in Europe and all of them have Doctor's degree, according to FCPAE.
The organizer also announced at the closing ceremony that the 12th FCPAE Europe Forum will be held in Manchester of Britain in October 2020.
The theme of this year's forum is "Innovation, Diversity and Co-operation".
During the two-day forum, nearly 300 Chinese professionals from across Europe as well as from China and Ireland held in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics such as IT, artificial intelligence, 5G connectivity, biopharmacy, education as well as the impact of Brexit on China-Ireland and China-Europe cooperation.
Irish Minister of State for Higher Education Mary Mitchell O'Connor, Chinese ambassador to Ireland He Xiangdong, Li Zhuobin, vice chairman of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and Yan Xiaopei, vice chairperson of the Central Committee of China Zhi Gong Party, attended and addressed the opening session of the forum held on Friday.
In her speech, O'Connor extended warm welcome on behalf of the Irish government to all the Chinese professionals coming from Europe and highly praised the "bridge" role played by Chinese professionals in Ireland in promoting the cooperation in various fields between Ireland and China.
Cindy Liu, chairperson of the Association of Chinese Professionals in Ireland which hosted the forum, said that this is the first time that FCPAE has chosen Ireland as a venue for its Europe Forum and the previous ten forums were held in Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, Copenhagen and other European cities.
Liu is also the rotating chairperson of FCPAE.
According to Liu, Europe Forum is an annual platform first created by FCPAE in 2009 with the aim to promote the exchanges and cooperation among Chinese professionals in Europe.
Founded and registered in Frankfurt of Germany in 2001, FCPAE is a non-governmental organization with 59 member associations in more than a dozen of European countries, which represent over 20,000 Chinese professionals in Europe.
