AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- A massive fire broken out Tuesday afternoon at a construction site in New Zealand's Auckland City center has left one missing and another seriously injured.

A Fire and Emergency spokesman told media that one person was unaccounted for, and one person was seriously hurt.

It is reported that a major fire has broken out at Auckland's SkyCity convention center construction site on Tuesday afternoon. Emergency services were called to the blaze about 1:10 p.m. local time.

Black smoke can be seen all over the Auckland central business district area. At least 100 firefighters are at the scene, and aerial appliances have been dispatched from Hamilton. Fire and Emergency crews are continuing to work to get the fire under control as the fire is still not controlled.

It is reported that a torch used to heat and seal waterproofing material started the fire on the roof.

Public health officials are advising members of the public to stay away from the fire site and out of the smoke. Nearby roads have been closed due to safety reasons.

The Skycity Convention center construction project is a major development project in Auckland city.
