TRIPOLI, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- A total of three civilians were killed and seven others injured on Wednesday when indiscriminate shelling hit a house in the south of the Libyan capital Tripoli.
"Emergency teams of the field hospital of Sawani (in southern Tripoli) rushed to the site, treated seven severely wounded people and recorded three others killed," the Medical Field Department of the Health Ministry of the Libyan UN-backed government said in a statement.
A day earlier, two children were killed and three other civilians injured when shelling hit a residential neighborhood in Tripoli.
The UN-backed Libyan government has been engaged in a deadly armed conflict against the rival east-based army since early April for the control of Tripoli.
Despite international calls for immediate cease-fire, both parties continue fighting in and around the Libyan capital.
