WASHINGTON, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota was the latest Democratic presidential contender to have qualified for the party's fifth primary debate scheduled for next month after receiving 3-percent support in a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Thursday.

The fifth debate, to take place in southeast U.S. state of Georgia on Nov. 20, requires candidates to hit at least 3 percent in four Democratic National Committee (DNC) approved state or national polls or 5 percent in two DNC approved polls from the four earliest primary and caucus states.

To qualify the stage, candidates also have to receive contributions from at least 165,000 unique donors, including at least 600 unique donors in 20 states.

Klobuchar, who has pitched herself as moderate and pragmatic, has previously hit 3 percent in three other polls, according to tracking by U.S. media and her campaign has said that she reached the donor requirement last month.

The latest Quinnipiac University poll enabled her to join eight other candidates who have already qualified for the debate: Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, Tom Steyer, Elizabeth Warren, and Andrew Yang.

According to the poll, Senator Warren of Massachusetts led the field with 28 percent of the vote among Democratic voters and independent voters who lean Democratic, followed by former Vice President Biden who received 21 percent.

Senator Sanders of Vermont and Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana, were the only other candidates to crack double-digits, at 15 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

The poll was a split from a CNN/SRSS national poll released on Wednesday.

In that poll, Biden held a comfortable lead over other Democratic presidential contenders, with the support of 34 percent of Democratic and Democratic-leaning registered voters. Warren and Sanders were about even for second, with 19 percent and 16 percent, respectively.

Nov. 13 is the qualification deadline for the fifth debate, which is sponsored by MSNBC and The Washington Post and will be moderated by four women, NBC News' Andrea Mitchell and Kristen Welker, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow and The Washington Post's Ashley Parker.

The hosting city, venue, and format will be announced at a later date, according to MSNBC.
