JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- At least two persons were confirmed dead and 11 others sustained injuries as a suicide bomber blew himself up next to a convoy of security personnel in Jalalabad city, the capital of Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Friday, provincial governor's spokesman Attaullah Khogiani said.
According to the official, the suicide bomber targeted a caravan of law enforcing agency at 2:00 p.m. local time, killing two civilians on the spot and wounding 11 other civilians.
Without providing more details, Khogiani said that an investigation was initiated.
A similar attack on a mosque in a far-flung area of Nangarhar province last Friday claimed the lives of more than 60 people and injured more than 30 others.
