WASHINGTON, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Los Angeles FC (LAFC) advanced to the MLS Western Conference Final after beating LA Galaxy 5-3 in the semifinals on Thursday night.

Mexico midfielder Carlos Vela scored two goals in the first half and striker Adama Diomande of Norway added two more in the second half to help the team earn the first win of the six meetings against their city rivals.

LAFC coach Bob Bradley said: "Over time, derbies have been some amazing moments so far, but to see this group respond was special. Obviously somewhere along the line, you just need to do it. We all knew it was our time. It was that simple."

"After all the work we did, this is a big moment," said Vela. "We work for that kind of game. We want to be the best team with the best season in history. To hit that target, that's maximum inspiration."

LAFC will host the Seattle Sounders in the West Conference Final next Tuesday.

In an Eastern Conference semifinal, defending champions Atlanta United beat Philadelphia Union 2-0. They will play against Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference Final next Wednesday.
