COPENHAGEN, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Energinet, a Danish state-owned energy infrastructure company, was allowed to construct a section of the Baltic natural gas pipeline in Denmark's territorial waters, Danish Energy Agency said Friday in a statement.

The territorial waters involved include the continental shelf of the North Sea and the Little Belt, according to the statement.

In addition, Gaz-System S.A., a Polish natural gas transmission system operator, was also granted the permit to work on the project.

The pipeline running through Danish waters was part of a larger project which would transport natural gas from Norway to Poland.

The Baltic Pipe project's capacity at full utilization would produce 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.

The length of the pipeline route is projected to be some 850 kilometers, of which around 105 km is in Danish waters of the North Sea, 4 km of the Little Belt and 133 km of the Baltic Sea.

According to the companies' schedule, establishment activities are expected to be started in early 2020 and completed by 2022.
