TUNIS, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- A Tunisian official said on Friday that his country is committed to international standards in the fight against terrorism and money laundering.

"Tunisia has the potential to adapt to the new generation of reforms and meet international requirements in these areas," Tunis Afrique Presse news agency quoted Finance Minister Ridha Chalghoum as saying in a press conference in the capital Tunis.

He said the removal of Tunisia from the blacklist of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) attests to its willingness to fight terror financing and money laundering in order to create a favorable climate for foreign investment.

On Oct. 18, the FATF, an intergovernmental organization founded in 1989, officially removed Tunisia from its blacklist, after the European Parliament blacklisted in 2017 the North African country as a country "at high risk of money laundering and terrorism financing."
