COLOMBO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's Attorney General's Department on Saturday evening held an event in capital Colombo to raise funds for children affected by the Easter Sunday attacks in April, which claimed 250 lives.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that all those involved in the attacks had been killed or apprehended and the government was drafting new legislations against extremists and terrorists.

He said terrorism had affected the entire region and called for more coordinated efforts to tackle the issue.

Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Cheng Xueyuan, speaking at the event, commended the department for bridging for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

China was among sources of the fund.
