JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Two construction workers were dead and five others wounded in a bomb blast in an under construction school building in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province on Monday, a provincial government spokesman said.

"The incident occurred in Bati Kot district, in the eastern side of Nangarhar at around 10:30 a.m. local time. Initial investigation found that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in the building. The blast also damaged parts of the unfinished building," spokesman Attahullah Khogyani told Xinhua.

Three wounded laborers, who suffered serious wounds, were shifted to a regional hospital in provincial capital of Jalalabad city, the official said.

An investigation has been underway, he noted.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident but Taliban militants and militants of Islamic State (IS) outfit are active in parts of the province, 120 km east of the country's capital Kabul.
