Tokyo stocks close higher on investors hope for trade deal

Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Tuesday, with the benchmark Nikkei stock index extending its winning streak to a seventh straight session and fresh year high, as investors sentiment was lifted by hopes for a trade deal between two major economies.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 106.86 points, or 0.47 percent, from Monday to close the day at 22,974.13.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 14.25 points, or 0.86 percent, to finish at 1,662.68.

Consumer credit, nonferrous metal and precision instrument-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
