BISHKEK, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Some 64 extremist websites have been blocked in Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of the year, the Prosecutor General's Office said on Tuesday.
To tackle the rise of online activities, the office filed 19 petitions to courts regarding recognition of information distributed online as extremist.
The courts upheld the statement of the office, and decided to prohibit access to 64 websites, 233 accounts, mostly personal social media accounts, and video channels on the Internet in Kyrgyzstan, the office said.
About 20 extremist and terrorist organizations have been banned in Kyrgyzstan.
