PHNOM PENH, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Security forces in the Cambodian border province of Banteay Meanchey will conduct an anti-riot training on Friday before the planned return of self-exiled former opposition leader Sam Rainsy.

The Banteay Meanchey Provincial Administration said in a statement on Thursday that the one-day training is aimed at "enhancing the maintaining of security, public order and safety."

The statement said the training will be held at the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police Commissariat in Serey Sophorn town.

Banteay Meanchey province is Cambodia's main border gate with Thailand.

The training came after Sam Rainsy, former president of the dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), said in August that he would return to Cambodia on Nov. 9 and called on Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand to join him on his return.

Approximately 1.14 million Cambodians have been working in Thailand, according to the Cambodian Labor Ministry's report.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said in August that an arrest will be made within 24 hours if Rainsy returns to the country.

Rainsy, 70, has been living in self-imposed exile in France since 2015 to avoid a 16-year prison sentence for a slew of criminal charges.

Political analysts believe that Rainsy's planned return is just "political warfare" and he will not return if King Norodom Sihamoni does not grant him a royal pardon.
