KATHMANDU, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- At least 17 passengers, including seven children, died while about 50 injured in the latest bus accident at Sukute area of Chautara Sangachockgadhi Municipality of Sindhupalchowk district in central Nepal on Sunday, police said.
Madhav Kafle, Deputy Superintendent of Police at District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk told Xinhua on Sunday that the passenger bus skidded off the Araniko Highway and plunged some 500-meter below the Sunkoshi River at around 13:15 local time while travelling from neighbouring Dolakha district to Kathmandu.
"A large number of people died and most of the remaining passengers got injured," Kafle said. "The injured are getting treatment at nearby Dhulikhel Hospital in neighbouring Kavrepalanchowk district."
Police said they are investigating the reason behind the accident.
