WASHINGTON, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden continued to lead in the 2020 Democratic presidential race, according to the latest poll by ABC News and The Washington Post released on Sunday.
The poll found Biden with 27 percent support from Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, unchanged from an early September survey.
Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts climbed to 21 percent from 17 percent, while Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana, stood at 7 percent after gaining four more points, according to the new poll.
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont was supported by 19 percent of the respondents.
The new survey of 1,003 adults was conducted between Oct. 27 and Oct. 30, with a margin of error of 5.5 percentage points.
Biden made a trip to Sterling, Virginia on Sunday to rally party activists for a pivotal state election, while Sanders held a rally in Minneapolis, Minnesota to promote his presidential campaign.
According to the RealClearPolitics average of polling, Biden leads the 17-contender Democratic primary field by about 7 points with 27.6 percent.
Warren, who trails behind Biden with 20.4 percent, is followed by Sanders with 17 percent and Buttigieg with 7.1 percent.
