HARARE, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe's Former Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Joram Gumbo was on Monday arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) for criminal abuse of office.
ZACC spokesperson John Makamure confirmed the arrest.
The former minister is being questioned over corruption in the purchase of Air Zimbabwe planes, among other charges.
He becomes the second minister in President Emmerson Mnangagwa's government to be arrested by the anti-corruption body in recent months after former tourism minister Prisca Mupfumira who is facing corruption charges involving 95 million U.S. dollars.
Upon arrest in July, Mupfumira spent 21 days in custody after she was repeatedly denied bail at the court.
Gumbo was removed from the post of transport minister in a cabinet reshuffle by Mnangagwa in May this year, and was appointed Minister of State for Presidential Affairs in charge of implementation and monitoring of government programs.
