BANGKOK, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand on Tuesday issued warnings against the releases of floating lanterns, hot air balloons and fireworks near all airports of Thailand during the Thai Festival of Lights or Loy Krathong float festival on November 11.

Thailand’s largest airport Suvarnabhumi International Airport also warned ahead of the festival that despite its popularity and tradition of releasing floating lanterns and objects into the air, such objects would jeopardize aircraft, the operation of the airport, public safety and property.

Any party who would really have to release such objects in the way that would affect air transport would have to seek permission from local district chiefs and inform local air traffic controllers or the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand seven days in advance so that pilots could be warned beforehand, said Sutheerawat Suwannawat, director of Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

The annual Loy Krathong Festival is not a public holiday.
