ROME, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Enrico Bartolini al Mudec earned its third star from the prestigious Michelin Guide, making it Italy's newest restaurant to be honored in such a way and the only Milan restaurant on the list.
The guide said Wednesday that 11 Italian restaurants are on the list with three stars, Michelin's highest honor.
The new Michelin Guide also includes 35 Italian restaurants rated with two stars and 328 with one star.
According to the Michelin Guide criteria, restaurants are rated on the quality of the ingredients used, mastery of flavor and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in their cuisine, value for money, and consistency between visits.
A one-star restaurant, according to the Michelin Guide, is considered a very good restaurant in its category, while a two-star property displays excellent cooking, worth a detour, and a three-star restaurant offers exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey.
With 11 three-star restaurants, Italy is tied with Spain for the fourth most three-star restaurants, behind Japan, France, and the United States.
