SARAJEVO, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- A total of 12,948 Chinese tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in September, a 42-percent increase year on year, BiH's Agency for Statistics said in a report on Thursday.

When it comes to overnight stays, Chinese tourists spent a total of 15,451 nights in BiH in September, compared to 10,098 in September last year, recording a 53-percent increase.

The total number of tourists who visited BiH in September is 169,725, an increase of 8.5 percent year-on-year.

The increase of Chinese tourists in BiH is accelerated by an agreement on a mutual visa-free regime between the two countries.

Tourism in BiH is a fast-growing sector, making up an important part of the country's economy. In recent years, BiH has seen a stable growth in the number of foreign tourists.
