NICOSIA, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is sending a personal envoy in Cyprus in mid-November to prepare a meeting with the island's community leaders, Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades said on Friday.

"It is a preparation held in view of the meeting that will take place on the 25th November in Berlin with the UN secretary-general," Anastasiades said in relation to a meeting he will have with Guterres' envoy Jane Holl Lute on Nov. 16.

Lute will also have separate talks with Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.

Guterres has scheduled a meeting with Anastasiades and Akinci in Berlin on Nov. 25, to officially finalize the terms of reference for renewed peace negotiations on Cyprus.

It may be followed by a five-party conference with the participation of the two community representatives and the three Cyprus guarantor powers - Greece, Turkey and Britain - to approve the terms of reference and agree on a venue of the renewed negotiations and the time, possibly early in 2020.

Guterres told the parties involved when the latest round of talks in Switzerland ended in failure more than two years ago that any new process in which he will be personally involved should be aimed at leading to early results.
