BANGKOK, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Monday met with defense ministers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and dialogue partners, and they reaffirmed their commitment to making joint efforts to promote regional peace and tackle threats of all forms.

At the Thai Government House, the defense ministers paid a courtesy call on Prayut on the occasion of their attendance at the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) in Bangkok.

"I have expressed Thailand's gratitude to all ASEAN and dialogue members for their support for the 35th ASEAN Summit held in Bangkok. Furthermore, the ADMM attendees have agreed that promoting sustainable security in the region is key to fundamental economic growth," said Prayut.

Prayut, however, told the media that he had urged all dialogue partners to respect the principals outlined in the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.

The Thai prime minister also praised ADMM and ADMM-Plus for boosting strategic trust and regional security.

The ADMM-Plus is a platform for ASEAN and its eight dialogue partners to strengthen security and defense cooperation for peace, stability and development in the region.
