DHAKA, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- A week-long fair has been under way in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka to promote products made by the country's marginalized people and participants of different programs of the Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last week inaugurated the Development Fair 2019 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), also known as Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.

PKSF is an apex development finance and capacity building organization of the Bangladeshi government.

A total of 130 organizations from across rural Bangladesh areas have set up 190 stalls showcasing a range of agricultural, food and traditional products manufactured by small entrepreneurs of grassroots level.

PKSF Chairman Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad had earlier said market expansion would help rural entrepreneurs grow rapidly and play an important role in poverty eradication by creating more jobs.

"We've created a better marketing opportunities for marginal, small and micro entrepreneurs at the development fair," the leading Bangladesh economist said.

He said the fair, which will continue till Nov. 20, will pave the way for rural entrepreneurs to be connected with a wide section of prospective buyers and change their socioeconomic statuses.
