TOKYO, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated Tuesday as export-related issues weighed on the market following the yen's appreciation against the U.S. dollar, with investor concerns also rising about the progress of key trade talks between two major economies.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 124.11 points, or 0.53 percent, from Monday to close the day at 23,292.65.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 3.99 points, or 0.23 percent, to finish at 1,696.73.

Nonferrous metal, machinery and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
