State counselor stresses need of constant efforts, perseverance for Myanmar's economic growth

NAY PYI TAW, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi stressed the need of constant efforts and perseverance for the country's economic growth on Friday.

Suu Kyi addressed at the Centennial event of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) held in Nay Pyi Taw.

The state counselor remarked that continued efforts are needed to maintain the good result of moving up six spots to 165th with 46.8 scores on the World Bank's latest "Ease of Doing Business 2020" report.

Myanmar stood at 171st place with 44.72 scores in the world bank's last year report of ease of doing business.

According to the bank's report, Myanmar was listed among top 20 improvers with substantial improvements in five areas of doing business, which has become a fruitful result of government and private sector cooperation, she said.

She expressed satisfaction with the UMFCCI's active participation in implementing the development of micro, small and medium enterprises as well as Industry 4.0 in Myanmar.

UMFCCI Chairman U Zaw Min Win reiterated that the organization has been acting as a bridge between the government and the private sector for the development of private businesses and has been carrying out cooperation with the business community from over 160 countries and regions for regional socio-economic development.

U Zaw Min Win also called for the participation of new generation to create the leading organization with reliable sustainable economic opportunities.
