KIEV, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Nineteen trucks carrying humanitarian aid from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Office passed through the Novotroitske checkpoint in the Donetsk region, the Ukrainian State Border Crossing Service reported on Friday.
"157.3 tons of medicine, hygiene kits, and construction materials were sent for the residents of Donbas," said the Ukrainian State Border Crossing Service.
UNHCR has been providing humanitarian and protection support in Ukraine's east for internally displaced persons, refugees and stateless persons.
The agency has sent around 60 humanitarian convoys to areas not controlled by the government in Kiev since 2015.
Since April 2014, an armed conflict between Ukrainian government troops and pro-independence insurgents has been underway in east Ukraine's Donbas region.
