TORONTO, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Police are searching for a suspect in the killing of a man and four suspects in an alleged violent carjacking in the Greater Toronto Area over the weekend, police said Sunday.
The man was killed in a gun battle in an apartment building in Scarborough of the Greater Toronto Area.
He was found dead due to multiple gunshot wounds in the lobby of the building. He was targeted when walking up the stairs to his home on the fourth floor.
The suspected shooter was seen fleeing through the front door of the building and running into a waiting vehicle in a parking lot around the building.
A 56-year-old man was stopped at a stop sign in his Mercedes in northwest Toronto. He was allegedly rear-ended by a dark-colored SUV, which prompted the man to get out of his own vehicle to inspect the damage.
Three men came out of the SUV and held him at gunpoint for car keys and cellphones. Then they got into the Mercedes and drove away, followed by the SUV.
On Sunday, police are still in the process of reviewing security videos to try to identify the suspects, calling on anyone with information about the incidents to contact them.
