Madagascar should take China's development path for industrialization: experts

ANTANANARIVO, Nov. 25, 2019 -- Malagasy experts said Monday that Madagascar should take the path that China has followed for its own industrial development.

During a conference with the theme of "China's Development and Cooperation between China and Madagascar" organized by Institut d'Etudes Politique (IEP) of Madagascar and the Chinese Embassy, professor Solofo Randrianja, said that Madagascar must first build a nest to host a phoenix as China did.

For Tahina Ravelohery, who received his doctorate in Economics at Wuhan University, China, said that Madagascar should encourage and facilitate small and medium enterprises as China did if it wants its real development.

Andry Raodina, Professor of Political Science at IEP University, said that political stability is necessary and the Malagasy government must play the first role if the country wants to reach a certain level of development like China.

Attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar Yang Xiaorong, minister of industry Trade and Crafts, Lantosoa Rakotomalala, and the minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Lucien Ranarivelo, the conference was focused on China's development and the Sino-Malagasy cooperation.

The minister of industry said that the government is focusing on the industrialization of the regions to strew factories and companies in the 22 regions in Madagascar.

The minister of agriculture said that as China did, agriculture must be developed if Madagascar wants to fight poverty.

After listing all highlights of China's development and that of cooperation between both countries, Yang said that industrialization is not only the essential force for the development of two countries, but also the inevitable path to the strength and prosperity of Madagascar.
