NAIROBI, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Kenya on Monday appealed to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) business community to support its candidacy for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council.

Monica Juma, foreign affairs cabinet secretary of Kenya, said support from the UAE and other Gulf states is key to strengthening Nairobi's bid to secure a non-permanent seat at the premier UN organ that makes important decisions regarding world peace and security.

"While I extend appreciation to AU (the African Union) for endorsing Kenya's bid, I appeal for your support in our candidature which is motivated by a pursuit of solutions to global challenges," she told the UAE-Kenya Trade and Investment Forum in Nairobi.

A non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council will boost Kenya's credentials as a regional guarantor for peace, stability and development, Juma said.
