SEOUL, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- South Korea’s export volume fell for six straight months through last month amid weak demand for display panels and oil products, central bank data showed Tuesday.

In terms of volume, the outbound shipment reduced 4.6 percent in October from a year earlier, continuing to slide for the sixth consecutive month since May, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

The export volume for computer, electronic and optical devices slipped 3.4 percent on soft demand for liquid crystal display (LCD) panels, while the figure for coal and oil products diminished 7.4 percent.

In terms of value, the export tumbled 15.5 percent due mainly to a lower price for memory chips. The export value kept falling for 11 straight months.

In terms of volume, the integrated circuit export advanced last month, but its export value plunged 29.6 percent.

Import volume dipped 6.5 percent in October from a year earlier, marking the first decline in four months. In terms of value, import dropped 14.3 percent last month.
