KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan National Police have arrested six Taliban militants in the country's southern Kandahar province, provincial police spokesman said Tuesday.
"Acting on credible intelligence reports, the ANP launched several raids in separate locations of Kandahar province within the past seven days, arresting six members of Taliban militant group," spokesman Jamal Barakzai told Xinhua.
Two of the arrested men were Taliban bomb making experts and two of the arrestees were responsible for a string of targeted shootings against government officials and civilians in Kandahar, he said.
The Taliban militant group has not made a comment on the report so far.
Security situation has been improving in Kandahar, the former stronghold of Taliban, over the last months, as security forces have been mounting operations.
