BANGKOK, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Thai Ministry of Transport on Wednesday reminded all domestic and international passengers to arrive early for departures especially during high seasons including the coming New Year holidays.

The Department of Airports under the ministry said while it assures effective managements of all its 28 civil airports throughout the country during the high seasons, travelers should prepare themselves for possible ground congestions during check-ins at all airports.

The department also said that it expects the number of air passengers to rise by 5 to 10 percent.

"The number of passengers at its 28 airports would rise by 30,000 during the New Year holiday compared with normal traffic," said Wittawat Pakdeesantisakul, deputy director-general of the department.

"The four main airports of the department in Khon Kaen, Krabi, Surat Thani and Udon Thani provinces would be operating at their full capacities from December through-out the New Year."

He also said the 28 airports are capable of serving 20 million passengers a year.
