NEW DELHI, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia arrived in New Delhi on Monday for a five-day state visit at the invitation of President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
Immediately after his arrival, Indian Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar called on the visiting King.
He was accorded the ceremonial reception at the President's House, after which he was slated to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Later, he will attend the "India-Sweden High Level Dialogue on Innovation Policy" with Modi.
In the evening, the King is scheduled to meet the Indian president, where several agreements are likely to be signed.
The visiting King is slated to attend a "programme on tackling emissions and air pollution" on Tuesday.
This is the Swedish King's third visit to India, the earlier visits being in the years 1993 and 2005.
