German shares up 0.58 pct at start of trading on Tuesday

BERLIN, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- After dropping more than 2 percent on Monday, German stocks recovered some of their losses at the start of trading on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index gaining 74.93 points, or 0.58 percent, opening at 13,039.61 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was German payment provider Wirecard, increasing 1.21 percent, followed by chipmaker and semiconductor manufacturer Infineon with 1.11 percent and software company SAP with 0.75 percent.

Shares in Covestro fell by 0.48 percent. The German plastics specialist was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Tuesday.

The German chemical industry association (VCI) is scheduled to present its economic outlook for Germany's third-largest industrial sector on Tuesday.

The euro increased slightly by 0.04 percent on Tuesday morning, trading at 1.1081 U.S. dollars.
