BANGKOK, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Thai Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday announced that Thailand's consumer prices index has risen 0.21 percent in November as a result of higher public transport fares.

"Consumer price index has climbed up to 102.61 points or 0.21 percent in November," said Pimchanok Vonkorpon, director-general of the ministry's trade policy and strategy office, "our statistics reveal that the rise is due largely to higher public transport fares."

On the commerce ministry's website, it indicated that food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 1.51 percent from the same month of last year.

Meanwhile, non-food and beverages dropped by 0.53 percent, due to a decline in all petrol prices by 7.54 percent.

The average consumer price in the 11 months of this year was up 0.69 percent.
